Portneuf River, Idaho  (Select Photo to Enlarge)

The Portneuf River just outside of Pocatello, Idaho between the Airport and American Falls Reservoir, is fed by spring water so nearly constant flows all year.

This water is rich in nutrient, with plenty of structure for big Browns, deeper runs for Rainbows and Cutthroats, and is lightly fished even by local fishermen.

While I was wading upstream several Beaver, including this one that swam within inches of my legs continued to ply the waters for their winter food supply.

This is 24", 6-7 pound Rainbow was taken out of a shallow run with a white maribou streamer using a 4 WT rod. A 100 yd chase downsteam ends with a Catch, Photo, and Release.
