The Portneuf River just outside of Pocatello, Idaho between the
Airport and American Falls Reservoir, is fed by spring water so nearly constant flows all year.
|
This water is rich in nutrient, with plenty of structure for big
Browns, deeper runs for Rainbows and Cutthroats, and is lightly fished even by local fishermen.

While I was wading upstream several Beaver, including this one
that swam within inches of my legs continued to ply the waters for their winter food supply.
|
This is 24", 6-7 pound Rainbow was taken out of a shallow run with
a white maribou streamer using a 4 WT rod. A 100 yd chase downsteam ends with a Catch, Photo, and
Release.
