St. Joe River, Idaho (Select Photo to Enlarge)

The St. Joe River in northern Idaho is crystal clear and has miles of beautiful water, and much of the river is accessable just a short hike from the road.

This picture is taken from the roadway, nearly 100 feet from the river, yet the water is so clear you can practically see the trout in the water. This is water that just looks fishy.

Can you imagine spending a day on this kind of water, with lots of fish hitting, and never seeing anyone but those in your fishing party? That's my kind of river.

This is wild county, in addition to good fishing, we were able to see Eagles, Hawks, Martin, Deer, and saw signs of many other animals. Campgrounds were plentiful and beautiful.

Jeff Kreutz's first day of fly fishing, and what a place to start out. Catching Cutthroats on dry flies as the sun sets behind the mountains, it doesn't get much better than that.
